Case studies - Economic Development

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) have recently refreshed their Regional Economic Strategy. The Norfolk Data Observatory (NDO) was used extensively to evaluate the draft strategies and make the case for more resources to be allocated to Norfolk. It is also used to develop and refresh Norfolk's own Shaping Norfolk's Future economic strategy and Norfolk County Council's Economic Development Operating Plan.

When companies inquire about investing in the County the NDO is used to provide information on skills, labour force and business activity. One of the most significant inward investments supported in this way was Orchard Toys. In addition, the NDO is used frequently for compiling information profiles as part of the aftercare service aimed at retention of local companies - recent examples include Multimatic and Van Diemen.
