Description: This dataset provides a count of local business units (both PAYE and VAT-registered) taken from the Inter-Departmental Business Register and categorised by 16 broad industry groups derived from the Standard Industrial Classification (UKSIC(2007)). This dataset relates to a snapshot of VAT and/or PAYE registered businesses on the IDBR, taken in March of each year, and updates are available annually.

Data is collected by the Tenant Services Authority via the annual Regulatory and Statistical Return (RSR) based on general needs stock only. Averages are calculated for self-contained units only.
